Plastic and Its Effect on Our Health

Plastic and Its Effect on Our Health

Now a day use of plastic is on its peek.We wrap things in plastic wrap. We use plastic bags for a variety of things.Plastic is everywhere. Plastic protects our phones, books, and important papers. Plastic lines the insides of canned food to protect them.

Effect Plastic on Our Health:

 Disrupt our hormones:

Plastic has many useful uses not only for our homes but also for important industries. This can cause some of the molecules to break down. All of our exposure to so much plastic is starting to disrupt our hormones.

Excessive "xenoestrogenic":

  • Many types of plastic have excessive "xenoestrogenic" effects. Once we get too much into our bodies, we can begin to notice hormonal imbalances in women and men that seem like too much estrogen.

  • This can have many negative effects, particularly on fertility, menstruation, growth and development, and overall health and wellbeing. Xenoestrogens disrupt our normal endocrine system and have been linked to breast cancer and endometriosis in women and can even alter neural signals during fetal growth.

  •  In-men, xenoestrogens have an impact on testicular function, sperm concentration, growth and motility. We are seeing a trend in fish as a lot of xenoestrogens get into streams from our sewage. Male Pisces show a partial and complete reversal of sex to female. Some parts of the oceans are so saturated with plastic waste that animals are displacing them in their homes.

Effect of Marine:

Marine animals and fish ingest or wedge plastic in and around their bodies, causing severe deformities, inability to eat, and death.  The most important exposure we can control is the use of plastic in food and water.

Carrying  Food:

Carrying hot food in plastic containers is one of the worst ways to contaminate our food and our bodies. Heating food in plastic can break the molecules of food. Frozen vegetable packaging promoting microwave "steam" packets in the bag. Frozen meals in trays and plastic bags, and hot cooked food in a plastic container for storage or covered with plastic wrap are all ways plastics can negatively affect our health. If you drink water in plastic bottles, harmful chemicals like bisphenol, polychlorinated biphenyl, and phthalates can also seep into your water as they can leach into food.

What can you do about it?

Try to use as little plastic as possible in your daily life. Use Pyrex or other types of non-plastic containers to hold and heat food. Drink water from glass or stainless steel bottles. Use your own cloth bags and grocery bags instead of using them. Plastic Limit or avoid frozen meals and processed foods.Do not put plastic objects in the microwave. Try to eat as little canned food as possible. By making these simple and handy changes, you are helping not only your own health, but the health of the planet Earth as well.
